Comparing Imaginary Entity

In class we used our imaginary entity to make other people answer questions; we would hope the results would reflect the target audience we wanted.
My results are good because the questionnaire realised the age bracket I wanted to go out to, but on the type of music people listen to one out of the three questionnaires said the type of music would be r& b so I made the colours lighter like yellow to make it look a bit more pop. The overall questionnaires I got back were good as they mostly matched my imaginary entity.

Planning Photo Shoot

 I plan to do a photo shoot for my double page spread in the coming week, I will get different clothes and accessories to wear to look different and will try to change the background and see what photo I can get best and use that as I only need one photo for my double page spread, I will try to get a full length shot to use for it.

Mock Up Double Page Spread

This is my mock up double page spread; I have taken influence from my research with the stripes up the top part of the page and putting my main photo as my only photo to make her the main feature of the article.  The article will be the bottom half of the page and will put in a big font the name of the act.

Research for Double Page Spread

 

This is a good double page spread for me because the encoder has made the main feature of the article the person in question, this is what I hope to achieve in my double page spread.

Layout
They have put her main picture in colour and the rest in black in white to draw more attention to the coloured picture and to get even more attention to it they have put a strong photo in which takes up most of the page. The mini photos they have put of her show off her in a different side as they are quite fun and the main photo is very serious. The black and white stripes divide the main article to the mini pictures at the top of the page.

The encoder has put the cover line in a bigger, bolder font and also in grey, we know this is the cover line and the introduction to the article because of the changing of font to the actual article, they have also highlighted the text in the beginning to highlight her name, making the article more about her, and make it stand out against the black and white of the page. Her quote is also out into bold but still is black intertextuality linking it to the black font from the main article about her, which is what the quote would have come from.

Final Front Cover

This is my final front cover, I chose some suitable plugs for my target audience with recent music acts so that will entice them as this targets people who like new music, with a free download which should also attract them as they are teenagers who would think that a free download it really good.

I choose the masthead to be yellow as it’s a stand out colour and the purple as it compliments the yellow and appeals to the target audience because its quite girly and looks good to the eye.
My picture takes up the whole page as it is a strong pose and doesn’t need anymore pictures around it otherwise it would look too much.

This is my rate card which shows the statistics and information about my magazine , which advertisers would look at to see if they wanted to advertise in my magazine , and to see whether it would be worth it

My annual turnover will be £22986000 from a combination of circulation (£210000) and advertising (£22776000).

       Lots of people are attracted to this magazine (mainly teenagers) by the latest gossip, music ,reviews , celebrities and more , as the magazine grows so will the circulation as it’s a promising magazine that will do well , Advertising in this magazine will lead  many young people to look at your adverts and give you many selling opportunities.

Marie Claire Research

Last lesson we looked at diferent magazines and how much advertising space they have in each magazine , to see how much income they get through advertising and looking at how many issures they seal to create even more income.

We looked at marie claire magazine these are the statistics :

199pages of advertising within a magazine of  609 , 33% of Marie Claire is advert space.

Per advertising page within Marie Claire being Priced at £17,807, within this one issue Marie Claire made Profit of £3,543,593 on advertising alone.

Another way that Marie Claire make profit is with revenues and sales, With each magazine pricing at £2.70 an issue, and the circulation figures being 250,785 readers Marie Claires makes £677,119.50 on revenue.

With sales and Avertising added together one issue alone can creating an income of £4,220,712.50 an issue  and making about £50,648,550 a year

Final Ideas

I am experimenting with different types of colours for my magazine,these are a few examples, I think I will add more plugs and experiment with different colours , I think I need to add a bolder colour to make the masthead stand out more.

Photo Shoot Planning

For the photoshoot of the front cover of my magazine I will take pictures of my firend and try to get the pictures against a blank background, so then if i want to i could change the colour of the background on photoshop. Iwant to get a shot of her from the waist up to show her face on the front cover of the magazine.

Interview with Target Audience

      This imaginary entity is to show my target audience which is the type of person who is very social , loves listening to music, watching tv and films, they are very current and only like whats new , because they are on the move all the time and get bored very easily. This imaginary entity is from a girls point of view but the magazine will be for boys and girls and will appeal to both, but mainly to girls.

·      The picture of the musician on the cover, covers nearly the whole of the headline, this means the magazine feel that they are well established that people will know that its there magazine by seeing just part of the headline, because this is the sign people know from all the publicity the magazine gets.

·      The structure of the magazine is very simple, it has the picture of the musician, with her name simply written with a by-line underneath, it also puts all of the other articles on one side of the age which makes all the writing seem sparse and simple, they are all written in the same font, there all intertextuality linked. They do this as they like the theme to stick with the image of the musician.

·      The only plug is the article about Nancy Pelos and how she “hits back” with her first ps interview, looking like you would be getting an exclusive with this magazine.

·      This magazine, targets music lovers as a whole, because it has three different genre bands all mentioned on the cover, rock, pop and country.

·      Underneath the musicians name it says “secrets of a good girl”, as this star has a squeaky clean image, her fans might buy into this as they want to know more about her and people may find this a new side to her and buy the magazine.

·      The overall view of the magazine is too concentrate on Taylor swift as she has the main headline as her name and blocks out most of the title with her picture , also the articles also have simple fonts are quite small to not take away from the spotlight from her.

Media Studies Coursework Diary

12 September 2011 - This week I have labelled  two magazines , vogue and a school magazine , also I have made a mock up of my school magazine front cover , which is what I will design.
29 September 2011 - I have learnt a few tips on how todo things on corel draw, this week i have designed my school magazine on corel, and will post it to my blog.
16 October 2011 - By now I have done my school magazine front cover and posted it to my blog, I made a mock up of my contents cover and posted it , also I made up a mock interview with my target audience, I also need made a mock up front cover which i need to post on my blog.
08 Novemeber 2011 - This week i have taken pictures for my front cover of my friend, she will be the main feature on my front cover , i have out the pictures from the photoshoot on to what will be my front cover on coreldraw , i am currently deciding wheter to do the colours in pink or green.
25 November 2011 - I have chosen to go with the colours of yellow and purple for my main front cover after thinking that this is the most appealing to my target audience.
6th December 2011 - I have looked at some double page spreads for music magazine and have decided on one and put the layout for it on my blog.
9th December 2011 - I've written about what people have thought my blog target audience was about and i've also planned my next photoshoot for my double page spread. 
6th January 2012 - I have taken pictures for my double page , woth lots of headshots and a long shot for the main photo , I also took pictures for a 'album cover' as well which i could feature on the contents page.
20 January 2012 -I have edited photos for my double page sread and have nearly finished it and just have to put some more interview text in and have also started my contents page.
26 January 2012 - I have finished my double page spread but i am still trying out differnt colours , i also finished my contents page but still also looking at differnet colours.
1 February 2012 - I added a few more pictures to my contents , i also intervied people on feedback for my front cover to see what they thought and will post the videos on soon.
20 February 2012 - I handed in my frontcover and double page spread but i'm still not happy with the contents page, i also started my media evalutation
06 March 2012- I need to change the pictures on my contents , i also did more media evalutation work
09 March 2012- I took two more differnt photos for my contents page today , i will edit them and put them on my contents
15 March 2012 - i have finished 3 questions of my evaluation and i am about to start on my fourth
30 March 2012 - i have finsished all my evaluation question and i have sent them in for feed back
5 April - I have finished updating my contents page and have used picnik to edit the photos and hanaded it in
20 April - I have recieved the feedback and will start to redo the questions where i have gone wrong.
26 April - I have finshed updating my  evaluation questions and handed them in along with my contents, DPS and Front cover!
